While we were flying over the “burn-to-learn” exercise in Longview, Wash., on Saturday, we were contacted by a photographer and a reporter from The Daily News – Bill Wagner and Barbara LaBoe, respectively.
Bill told us about his experiences operating the DASH - Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter - while serving in the Navy during Vietnam. Thank you for serving our country in a time of war, Bill!
When he wasn’t explaining to us how we are about 50 years late to the party, he got some great photos, including one of Galaxian in action, as well as an extremely flattering picture of Techinstein and myself - in that you can't see our faces. Thank you for that as well, Bill!
Barbara LaBoe interviewed us and wrote a terrific article, specifically regarding our hope to deploy our drones in support of our friends in public safety – firefighters and law enforcement officers.
We’ve enshrined their work in a new feature on our website, called “SIGHTINGS!”, where we will feature public notice that our project receives.
After the article went live on the newspaper’s website, we saw a huge surge in hits on our blog. No doubt everyone is looking for the video she mentioned in the article – and I’m working as fast as I can to get it done.
In the meantime, Techinstein has been nagging me about not keeping the Galleries up to date. To put him off, I told him that I was busy and if he wanted to put some images from this event online, he’d have to sort them out and watermark them himself.
Unfortunately, he called my bluff.
Last night, he handed me a USB drive with still images – sorted and watermarked. Bereft of excuses, I’ve posted them on the site. Enjoy!
