We've gotten some good traction in the FPV community with our post last week about Oregon Senate Bill 71, but our experience over the past two years has been that nothing pulls in the eyeballs quite like a video, so we quickly put this together:
Props to cartoonist Adrian Wallace for contributing his artistic talents to this video on short notice, and also the team over at MediaFX, who helped us with the production.
The main piece of new news that we get out in this video is that the Oregonian newspaper has identified the author of Senate Bill 71 as Floyd Prozanski, a democrat representing Eugene. The paper did an article about this issue, which you can read by clicking here. Thanks to Erin in Portland for finding this and sharing it on our Facebook page.
As promised, here are some links to help you get you started in opposing Senate Bill 71:
- This link will download a .PDF of a model letter opposing SB 71, which you can cut and paste into an e-mail, or copy into a word processor, edit, and then send by regular mail to your state senator and representative. Either way, it will mean more if you take a couple of minutes and edit it to reflect your own thoughts and beliefs, so it doesn't look like everybody is just sending in a carbon copy of the same letter. However, if you're not comfortable with that, send it in as-is. We need our legislators to know that there is strong opposition to this bill. Kudos to Dave with Team Echelon for coming up with the idea of a model letter in the first place.
- This link will take you to the “Contact” page for Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber. It provides you with an e-mail form, and also his street address if you want to put a stamp on it and mail it.
- This link will take you to a search tool on the state capitol's website. If you give it your address, or even just your zip code, it will provide you with a list of your elected representatives and their contact information. Remember, you're looking for your state representatives, who appear towards the bottom of the “results” page, not your federal representatives, at the top.
Remember, this debate is just getting started. Stay alert for news and developments related to this issue and share anything you find. We'll do our best to keep you posted from here.
-Lucidity
These are just a sophisticated toy and the Bill 71 is thoroughly misdirected and uninformed.

You cannot get any contact information for Gov. Kitzhaber. That link will open just for a second then move on and you cannot go back to get either the phone number, the email address or the address. I tried the following link: http://cms.oregon.gov/gov/Pages/Contact.aspx and it did the same thing. This gov. has cut himself off completely from his constituents and these constituents will not vote for him again!
Does anyone have a valid email address, phone number or even address for this governor, Kitzhaber?
